Can I Help

You can make a difference.

Community organisations like Yooralla rely heavily on the public for support, through donations, volunteering, and community awareness opportunities. For charitable organisations such as Yooralla to survive, they need stable and loyal funding.

There are many ways that you can make a valuable contribution towards the continuation of the fantastic work that Yooralla does.

Your donation today will help guarantee Yooralla's future - maybe even yours. By simply making a donation you are helping Yooralla provide important services for people with disabilities that are often not covered by government funding. People often ask what are some of the real costs of Yooralla’s services? The following amounts will simply give you an idea of some of Yooralla’s service costs. For instance:

  1. A weekly two hour therapy session for one pre-schooler with a disability attending an Early Childhood Intervention Centre costs Yooralla $240 per session, or $9,600 over one school year.
  2. To provide an in-home attendant care worker for three hours per week to care for a child or adult with a disability to enable a parent a little time out, costs Yooralla $82, or $4,264 over one school year.
  3. To provide one hoist that enables people with disabilities to get in and out of bed, an essential item for all Yooralla residences costs Yooralla up to $13,000 each.

We understand that there is a balancing act between what someone might like to give and what he or she can actually afford to give. We appreciate any donation you decide to make. Remember, any donation you choose to make over $2 is tax deductable and will make a difference!

Cover of Yooralla pamphlet about how to leave a bequest in your will

Bequests

A bequest is a gift made in a Will, which in turn is a legal document specifying how a person wishes his or her property to be distributed after they die. A gift can include money, shares, jewellery, houses and a range of other items.

By leaving a gift to Yooralla in your Will, you can, with the stroke of a pen make a lasting difference and lessen the impact of disability in the lives of Victorian children and adults who live with disabilities.

Yooralla has produced a brochure called Your Will, Your Way, Your Yooralla which covers all the legal questions and shows you how to leave the gift of a lifetime to a great Victorian cause while still caring for your own family. To download a copy of this brochure, please click on the photo of the brochure. The PDF version will open in its own window.

We also have a "Personal Record Book", this is not meant to take the place of your will but is a place to record the details of how you want to pass on your personal things.

For your free copy of both Your Will, Your Way, Your Yooralla brochure and Personal Record Book please contact Paul Nugent on 03 9666 4531 or paul.nugent@yooralla.com.au.

Bargain Shop

Yooralla has a Bargain Shop located at Carlton. It sells a range of quality recycled clothing, jewellery, furniture and household items.

This Bargain Shop not only enables us to offer clothing and other household essentials at low prices to local community members, the profits also fund our work for Victorians who live with a disability.

To help raise vital funds, we are always grateful to receive your unwanted items in good condition to sell in our shop including:

  • clothing in good, wearable condition
  • books
  • jewellery
  • kitchen cutlery, pots and pans
  • small electrical appliances including televisions in working order

Regrettably we are unable to offer a pick up service for your unwanted goods and while we are always grateful for donations of furniture, there are certain items we cannot accept simply because we don't have the room to store it. Please call our bargain shop to see if we have room available before dropping it off.
