What are Day Services?

Yooralla's Day Services provide a range of programs that offer people with disabilities over 18 the opportunity to participate in either facility based community group programs or individually based programs. All our programs are structured and comprehensive and designed to meet the educational, vocational, recreational and therapeutic goals of the client via the use of an individual client plan. Yooralla’s Day Services generally operate programs during normal business hours five days a week, however some activities may be undertaken after hours and/or weekends.

FirstBase

FirstBase is designed and developed around the needs of young adults leaving school, aged 18 years and over with a disability, to make the transition to an adult lifestyle by developing skills and realising individual goals through specialised programs. The FirstBase program operates in a number of centres across Metropolitan Melbourne and South Gippsland.

Our community based facilities are developed with fully equipped therapy rooms. We provide physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech pathology. We also have purpose built computer, multimedia, Internet and new technologies rooms, general purpose areas and kitchen and meals areas. We offer close proximity and easy access to both public transport and community infrastructures. We encourage participants to access educational courses, sporting and recreational groups and to find employment.

SteppinOut

SteppinOut is a day program that specialises in the delivery of recreational and vocational activities for people 18 years and over with intellectual disabilities. Some of the activities include day trips, music therapy, art and craft and the developments of daily living skills.

Our community based SteppinOut facility located in Mont Albert North has been developed with general purpose areas, personal care facilities and a well-equipped kitchen and meals area. There is an extensive outdoor area to enjoy and both public transport and community resources are located nearby. A transport service to and from the facility can be provided.

Pathfinder (formerly known as SecondBase)

The Pathfinder program offers an individualised approach designed and developed around the needs of young adults leaving school, aged 18 years and over with a disability, to make the transition to an adult lifestyle by developing skills and realising individual goals through specialised programs.

Programs are community based and clients receive support to make choices on a one to one level with their program coordinator and specialist staff. Individual client programs are designed by the coordinator to meet the educational, vocational, recreational and therapeutic goals of the client. Individual client budgets are also developed in consultation with the client and their parents/carers/significant others and are maintained throughout the year by the service coordinator.
