In Home Respite
What is In Home Respite?
In Home Respite is designed to provide home and community-based respite to the primary carer(s) of a person with a disability. To meet the requirements of the consumer and carer, the service can be utilised in a flexible and responsive manner. It aims to provide the primary carer(s) with support, allowing time for them either in or away from the home. This service offers the advantage of minimising disruptions to family members, especially the person with a disability.
Eligibility
- individuals with physical, intellectual, sensory, acquired brain injury, or multiple disabilities
- people who reside across the Melbourne metropolitan area
- people aged from birth to 64 years
- people who live with and are dependent upon a primary carer
Referral and application
All potential consumers must complete a referral form that can be accessed by clicking Department of Human Services. The referral form outlines the needs of the consumer and their current living situation and supports. This form enables us to prioritise applications so that when funding becomes available, it is allocated according to the need.
Fees
There are no fees attached to this service. However, if a staff member is requested to attend an outing with an associated cost, the consumer or their carer is requested to cover this.
