Students at Glenroy Specialist School to trial state of the art wheelchair
DATE: 8 November 2017
September school holidays were made even more exciting for Yooralla therapists at Glenroy Specialist School, when Albert from Motion Wheelchairs and Andrew from Pride Mobility delivered a brand new Q6 Edge 2.0 power wheelchair to the school.
Pride Mobility and Motion Wheelchairs have kindly donated the highly customised wheelchair for students at Glenroy Specialist School to trial. The wheelchair, valued at over $20,000, offers up to 50 degrees of tilt, eight Bluetooth connections and a power lift function. The latest technology included in the wheelchair will allow students to not only move around, but also access communication systems, computers and a range of other electronic devices.
Yooralla physiotherapists Sarah and Dan are excited about the trial.
“This is an amazing opportunity for us to trial the wheelchair and show families what the wheelchair is capable of. We are looking forward to exploring the opportunities the wheelchair’s functions will offer students, not only to move, but to help access the school curriculum and the community.”
Since the start of Term 4, the Yooralla Therapy team has been trialing the new wheelchair and learning more about how the technology and features can be used to support students' goals.
Yooralla would like to thank Albert from Motion Wheelchairs and Andrew from Pride Mobility for their generosity.
