Whitehorse customers get fitted for work
DATE: 25 May 2017
Recently, participants from the Ladies Group at the Whitehorse Community Hub visited Fitted for Work in the Melbourne CBD.
Fitted for Work is a local organisation dedicated to helping women who experience disadvantage to find employment and keep it. A large part of what they do is support women to find the right clothing for interviews and work.
Members of the Ladies Group are very interested in learning more about employment in a café, office administration and childcare. During their visit, the group met with two staff members, Michelle and Karen, who discussed with our customers the types of employment they wanted to get, as well as offering to update their resumes and support them to dress appropriately for interviews and work.
According to Service Leader, Shannon, this visit to Fitted for Work was one of the highlights from the term.
"Michelle and Karen did an amazing job supporting the Ladies Group and picking out clothes for them to try on which matched the jobs they would like to have", said Shannon. "And we were so surprised to learn that the ladies could keep their chosen outfits if they wanted to!"
Shannon and the group enjoyed themselves so much at Fitted for Work that they are now supporting them by donating clothes whenever they can.
