Yooralla congratulates Zach Pearce for his RED carpet nomination
DATE: 5 July 2017
Yooralla congratulates Zach Pearce, Wodonga Council’s RED Carpet Youth Awards finalist, which recognises young people achieving great things in the local community.
Zach is nineteen and currently living in one of Yooralla's residential services. He was nominated for an Advocacy and Action Award in recognition of his advocacy work for people with disabilities.
Now in its ninth year, the RED Carpet Youth Awards are designed to recognise the many positive contributions that young people make to the community.
To reach this finalist stage, Zac successfully completed an initial phone and three person panel interview. The awards will culminate in a ceremony and gala dinner on Friday, 28 July.
Zach recently moved into Yooralla’s residential service. Zach works two days a week at a social enterprise based in the Albury/Wodonga area, and spends another day detailing cars. This year Zach also started his Warehousing Certificate at Wodonga TAFE. Additionally, he is a player for the Wodonga Jets football team, which is part of the Football Integration Development Association, and aims to provide Victorians with an intellectual disability the chance to compete in an Australian Rules League.
Zach is a worthy nominee and we wish him every success with his nomination!
