School Services
What are School Services?
Yooralla provides therapy, nursing and attendant care services to the Special Schools at Belmore and Glenroy. These schools provide services for children with a physical disability aged from five to 18 years of age. Yooralla therapy services have a focus on supporting students to access the school curriculum, to reach their maximum level of independence and to support their family and carers to help them function as independently as possible at home and in the community.
Our team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech Pathologists and Nursing/Attendant Care staff have particular expertise in assisting children who have significant physical or speech and language difficulties, or a combination of both. Therapy, nursing/attendant care, education staff and parents work as a team to design, implement and monitor an integrated plan that meets the individual needs of children. Parents are encouraged to participate in goal setting and evaluation and to attend school programs.
Yooralla also has an Equipment Development Officer who designs, modifies and manufacturers specialised equipment for students to assist them to participate in classroom programs and school activities.

- gross motor sessions
- programs based on the principles of Conductive Education
- perceptual motor programs
- fine motor and writing programs
- hydrotherapy and aquatics programs
- independent living skills
- work education
- accessing community facilities
- communication and language programs
- support and training in technology
- recreation support
- support at school camps
- multi-sensory programs
- travel training
- support for transition to adult facilities
Eligibility
Children aged between five to 18 years that have a significant physical or speech and language difficulty or a combination of both can attend the Belmore School or Glenroy Specialist School.
