Eastern Region Communication Service
Our Eastern Region Communication Service (ERCS) provides a range of communication supports to people with complex communication needs living in the Eastern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne.
We provide
Our service includes speech pathology and/or training and skill development. We also work at a community level to promote inclusion and enhance independence and choice.
Stroke a Chord
We have partnered with Maroondah City Council and Croydon Stroke Support Group to establish ‘Stroke a Chord’, a choir of stroke survivors.
People who can’t talk after stroke can often sing because the stroke may have affected the left side of the brain where speech is centred but music is processed in different areas of the brain.
The choir aims to improve quality of life for stroke survivors and to provide research into the effects of singing on their quality of life.
