Facility Based Respite

Our Facility Based Respite services offer a home like environment for people with disability to stay while their carer takes a break.

During your stay, you will have the opportunity to meet and socialise with others of a similar age and have access to staff qualified in the specific support of people with complex personal care needs.

You can use our Facility Based Respite services for a planned rest or emergency accommodation, with stays ranging from one night through to six months.

Locations

Box Hill

Features three self-contained units, each with four bedrooms. All have 24-hour support, including active night staffing every day of the year. It’s worth noting that children and adults stay in separate units.

Glenroy

Offers two self-contained units, each with four bedrooms. 24-hour support is provided, including active night and sleep-over staff every day of the year. Additional recreational hours are available on weekends. The service is closed between 9.30am and 3pm during weekdays in school terms unless special arrangements have been made.

Reservoir

Is available for use by people living in the Northern Metropolitan Region. It offers five bedrooms, which are fully staffed with sleepover support every day of the year. The focus at Reservoir is on recreational and community access. The service is closed between 9.30am and 3pm during weekdays in school terms unless special arrangements have been made. During school holidays, the service operates all day.

Hume

Is based in Benalla and only available to adults. It has three bedrooms and is staffed between the hours of 7am – 10am and 3pm – 10pm (with sleepover support) during the school term. People wishing to engage in activities during the hours of closure can access our local day services from 9am – 3pm. Staff are available around the clock on school holidays and weekends. There are planned recreation and leisure activities on the weekends and school holiday programs are also available.

Ventilator Accommodation Support Service (VASS)

We can also provide planned respite, emergency and interim accommodation for people who are dependent on ventilation. Our VASS service is a 5 bedroom unit in Thornbury offering 24-hour active support from staff who are qualified in ventilation and complex health support.
