International Day of People with Disability

Yooralla will be celebrating International Day of People with Disability on Monday, 3 December 2018.

This is a United Nations sanctioned day celebrated around the world. It aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and celebrate the achievements and contributions of people with disability.

In 2015, Yooralla customers marked the day by filming, editing and starring in a video that addressed the question “What does equality mean to you?”

Undertaken by the Yooralla’s Community Hub customers the video captures the diversity of views on this important topic. The Community Hub provides planned programs that enhance lifestyle skills. Activities include using computers, video production, arts and crafts, literacy and numeracy.

The video was played on the screen at The Atrium at Federation Square, as part of a program of videos about disability.
