Yooralla to hold free one-on-one NDIS sessions in Dandenong
DATE: 18 July 2018
Yooralla will hold free one-on-one National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) sessions in Dandenong in August to help people with disability and their carers to understand the NDIS, no matter what stage of the NDIS journey they are in.
The NDIS is a new funding model designed to give people with disability more choice and control over how their support needs are met.
Yooralla, one of Victoria’s largest not-for-profit disability services providers, that celebrated a centenary this year, will run the 45-minute sessions at Dandenong Civic Centre, Level 2 at 225 Lonsdale Street in Dandenong.
The sessions will run in two blocks: from Monday 6 August through to Friday 10 August and from Monday 27 August through to Friday 31 August. There will be six sessions available each day that will aim to explain how the NDIS works, how to access it, how to prepare for a NDIS planning meeting and what to do when you get your NDIS plan.
Dr Sherene Devanesen, Yooralla’s Chief Executive Officer, said Yooralla chose to offer these sessions one-on-one, rather than in a large group forum, to give people the opportunity to discuss their personal circumstances in private and have all their NDIS questions answered.
“Yooralla was one of the pivotal organisations who lobbied for the NDIS and is now keen to support people through this transition. Whether you are a parent of a child with disability, an adult with disability or a carer of an adult with disability, Yooralla has NDIS information tailored to suit you,” said Dr Devanesen.
Registration is available either through www.yooralla.com.au/pre-planning or by calling 03 9666 4500.
Those unable to attend on the scheduled dates, can contact Yooralla’s Community Engagement team to organise another time, on 03 9666 4500 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
