6 things to think about when your next NDIS planning meeting is coming up
DATE: 6 March 2019
With the NDIS rolling out in all regions of Victoria, many NDIS participants will now be onto their second or even third NDIS plan.
The annual NDIS Plan review process is important in making sure you get the support you need to achieve your goals on an ongoing basis. It will help ensure that your NDIS plan continues to meet your needs as they change.
Your plan review discussion may not be as long and detailed as your initial NDIS planning discussion. However, it’s still worth giving it some thought before your review discussion as to how your last NDIS plan has gone for you, to make sure you get your best next NDIS plan.
Is it nearly time for your next NDIS plan? If so, you’ll need to:
- Review what has and hasn’t worked for you over the past 12-months, and
- Think about your goals and needs for the next 12-months.
- How am I progressing with my current goals?
- What are my goals for the next 12 months?
- Have my current funded and non-funded (informal, mainstream and community) supports been suitable?
- Have there been any changes in my life?
- What equipment and consumables do I have?
- What do I need for the next 12 months?

The plan review is also a good idea to reflect on whether your service providers have met your expectations and delivered the supports you needed. Yooralla has some tips on choosing service providers if you are keen to change providers. You can also have a think about whether the way your providers are being paid is working for you – the plan review is time to switch if you want to.
Just like for your first NDIS planning meeting, it is worthwhile gathering all the evidence you can about what you did over the last year.
