Calling all volunteers this National Volunteer Week!
DATE: 16 May 2022
We want to take the opportunity during National Volunteer Week (16-22 May) to recognise and appreciate the work of our volunteers, and the significant contribution they make to Yooralla.
Volunteering brings people together; it builds communities and creates a better society for everyone. Our volunteers play an important role, supporting and enhancing our many programs and activities with their invaluable contributions.
Before the closure of our services due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there were 3,575 volunteering hours completed over 26 weeks – that’s more than 138 hours a week!
Now as our services reopen and we welcome our clients and staff back in this COVIDsafe world, we are seeking new volunteers to get involved, making a difference to people’s lives, and giving back to the community.
Volunteering at Yooralla
Last year, we spoke to Francis, a volunteer at Yooralla’s Opportunity Shop in Benalla who talked us through her volunteering journey – including what people get out of volunteering.
Francis said that “volunteering has given me more than I have given it. It has really enriched my life in so many positive ways.”
“I have made many friends over my time volunteering and would highly recommend it to anyone of all ages and from all walks of life!”
Yooralla would like to take this opportunity to thank its volunteers and the significant contribution they make to the organisation.
Thinking of volunteering?
Yooralla has a range of volunteering opportunities across its services. We try to match the skills and interests of our volunteers with the needs of our clients.
