International Women's Day

Yooralla is proud to recognise International Women's Day.

International Women’s Day is celebrated around the world on 8 March and is a day to reflect on how far we have come and how far we still have to go to truly achieve gender equality.

Gender equality is important in all parts of society, including the workplace. Workplace gender equality is achieved when people are able to access and enjoy the same rewards, resources and opportunities regardless of gender.

Yooralla is an organisation that supports all people, including women, to be successful in the workplace. Seventy-seven percent of Yooralla’s managers are female.

Yooralla reports on an annual basis to the Workplace Gender Equity Agency, as do all organisations with more than 100 employees. This allows us to compare our gender equality performance with our peers. When we compare our gender performance compared to the most similar organisation to our own, we find that:

  • Our female employees earn 20% more than men for their annualised average wage, compared to our comparison group where male employees earn 1.1% more for their annualised average wage.
  • Yooralla’s board has increased its percentage of female directors each year since 2013/2014 so that it currently is at 75%; our comparison group has had approximately 30-40% female directors for the same period.

Yooralla also offers a range of flexible workplace practices to support all employees balance their work and family life, for example part-time employment, parental leave,  job sharing, carers leave, purchased leave and unpaid leave.

Yooralla supports all employees by having policies that aim to prevent sex-based harassment and discrimination. Our policy that covers this is Respect in the Workplace.

Along with many countries worldwide, Australia has made significant progress towards gender equality in recent decades, particularly in education, health and female workforce participation. Yooralla is proud to support this progress.
