Yooralla celebrates its largest annual event
DATE: 28 November 2019
Yooralla held another successful Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Big Day Out (BDO) event this year, hosting more than 600 guests.
Held on Monday 25 November at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre, it was a fun-filled day as guests were entertained by Australia’s first all-female pop group with disability, The Sisters of Invention. The group travelled all the way from Adelaide specifically for the event, which also featured many accessible activities including virtual reality, ‘old-school’ Nintendo, photo booth, face painting and the latest games on the gaming console.
Yooralla was privileged to host Mr Graeme Head, NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commissioner, and Ms Eva Sifis, as keynote speakers.
Mr Head discussed the principles of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) quality and safeguarding framework and the role of the Commission.
Ms Sifis, who has an acquired brain injury (ABI), shared her remarkable story of rehabilitation, co-authoring a book, and establishing her company, By Accident, dedicated to supporting people with an ABI.
Thank you to everyone who attended the event!
Importantly, Yooralla’s 2018/19 Annual Report, which provides detailed information about Yooralla’s activities and financial performance over the past financial year, is now also available on Yooralla’s website, including an accessible version.
