There are over 1.1 million employees in Australia with some form of disability.

This infographic adopts the standard occupation categories used by the ABS.

Key facts

  • People with disability are represented in relatively equal proportions across the 8 categories of occupation.
  • Labourers, however, are somewhat more likely to have some form of disability.
  • In absolute terms, occupations of Australians with disability most commonly fall under professional occupations.​

Technical notes

'Disability' is used to mean the broad ABS definition of disability, and includes persons over 65. See the ABS website for details. 

Occupation categories are the top level of the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupation (ANZSCO). Definitions and subcategories can be found on the ABS website
