Yooralla can support you to pursue your employment goals by providing job skills training and building pathways into supported, open and customised employment. We are committed to providing lasting and diverse employment opportunities.

Starting on your pathway to employment

Maybe you would like to work in retail, at one of our Social Enterprises, be an electrician, or even  run your own business – whatever your employment goals are, Yooralla can support you to plan for your future through job skills training and employment pathways - empowering you to land a job that's right for you.

Working with you and your support network, we will develop a plan that aims to build your job skills and capacity to gain meaningful work that suits your interests and needs.

Open employment with an employer in the community

We can support you to transition into a paid job of your choice with an employer in the community, known as open employment.

We’re committed to supporting you to find a job that's right for you. We want to make sure you’re a valued member of the team and your unique contributions are celebrated.

We actively explore partnerships with businesses in our communities, to create opportunities for people with disability to work with an employer to develop new skills, build social networks and be a part of the wider community, whilst earning a wage.

Ways we can support you to transition into open employment include:

  • identifying suitable employment opportunities
  • connecting the worker to an employer
  • providing mentoring support, and
  • coordinating post-placement support.

If you want to work but you’re not ready to work without support, we can also provide job skills and employment pathways and Supported Employment opportunities to help prepare you for open employment in the future.

Cutomised Employment

Our Customised Employment program focuses on the discovery phase, where job coaches work with you, and your support networks, to explore your interests, skills and strengths – translating these skills to match with potential jobs.

After this discovery phase, our job coaches will negotiate with potential employers to tailor roles to suit you and to address business needs.

When you get a job, we will provide ongoing, on-the-job support as needed, with the goal to slowly phase out your support as you build connections and increase your capacity and independence in the workplace.

Once you’ve secured your new job, we will provide on-going support on the job as required. We can slowly reduce this support as you build connections and increase your capacity and independence at work.

Supported Employment

Yooralla has been actively building partnerships with businesses and organisations within the community to provide opportunities for people with disability to develop new skills, build social networks and be a part of the wider community, while earning a wage.

Support employees are mentored by a Yooralla support worker, who is on hand to assist them at work. Supported employment opportunities are also available through Yooralla Business Enterprises.
