Hello,

Welcome to this month’s edition of News@Yooralla.

I am pleased to share that, after an extensive audit process against the National Standards, Yooralla will be recommended to be re-accredited by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission as a registered NDIS provider.

These audits are one of the ways that the NDIS Commission and our clients and families can be assured that Yooralla meets the standards of support for people with disability.

Our focus is on delivering the best service to our clients and while the registration is not a guarantee about everything that we do, we are proud to meet the standards.

We are encouraged to have received three best-practices – one for the involvement of people with disability inside the organisation and another, on our work on supported decision-making through our recent iDecide program.

iDecide is a series of workshops over 6 weeks, when participants learnt more about their rights in decision-making. A key outcome was for each individual to develop decision-making manifestos to share with the people around them about the best way to support them when making decisions.

This is an important piece of work for people with disability to exercise even more choice and control in their lives. We look forward to supporting more clients, and their networks to complete the program in the near future.

Stay tuned for more information about how clients and staff are working on supported decision-making. We will share stories on the experience of clients throughout the workshops and some examples of iDecide participant manifestos soon!

Thanks to our employees involved in this great work, and those who assisted in preparations for the audit – as well as our clients who were interviewed by the auditors.

Stay safe and well.

Terry Symonds
