Become a Specialist Behaviour Support (SBS) Practitioner at Yooralla

As a Specialist Behaviour Support (SBS) Practitioner with Yooralla, you will work collaboratively to enhance the quality of life for people with disability of all ages. Your work will aim to decrease the frequency and severity of behaviours of concern while empowering individuals to thrive and meet their goals.

You will achieve this through using:

  • complementary evidence-informed practices including human-rights focused, environmental enrichment, person-centred active support, trauma informed practices, and reflective practice
  • working collaboratively with the person and their supports and build on the person’s strengths
  • supporting the development of positive relationships, communication skills, and coping skills
  • undertake collaborative assessments including functional behaviour assessments determining the reasons for a behaviour of concern and provide targeted strategies that support the person to decrease their reliance on that behaviour to have their needs met
  • develop interim behaviour support plans and create evidence-informed, proactive comprehensive behaviour support plans
  • implement and monitor these plans
  • adapt strategies to different environments and training support systems
  • evaluate the effectiveness of plans against measurable outcomes including quality of life and reductions in any restrictive practices that may be in place.

A behaviour support role with Yooralla will suit a Behaviour Support Practitioner who is passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of people with disability.
