Yooralla’s Young Onset Dementia service is an NDIS funded service that provides specialist accommodation and tailored 24-hour support for people with young onset dementia (under the age of 65 years).
Yooralla’s Young Onset Dementia supports
Support is provided 24-hours a day, seven days a week, with active night support. Our highly skilled staff specialise in young onset dementia care and complex behaviours and can support you:
- with personal care, meals and everyday tasks around the home
- to live independently in the community and get out and about
- to enjoy a comfortable and enjoyable home life, and
- to live the life you choose!
About Yooralla’s Young Onset Dementia Care Homes
There are only a small number of young onset dementia care homes in Victoria providing NDIS dementia supports to people under 65 years. Yooralla’s Young Onset Dementia service has been specifically designed so young people with dementia can be supported in their own home with housemates closer to their age, rather than in a nursing home.
Our homes
We have homes in Thornbury and Glenroy in Melbourne’s North. Both homes offer quality support, provided by Yooralla’s trained staff who specialise in young onset dementia care.
Thornbury
expand_moreWe understand the need for privacy, so we offer all single rooms with a private courtyard and ensuite. Bathrooms are spacious and are fitted with ceiling hoists (NDIA design category - High Physical Support).
Residents at Thornbury have access to a wide array of shared amenities, including shared living areas, and full access to the expansive outdoor spaces, offering the perfect place to relax and catch up with friends and family for a visit.
Glenroy
expand_moreAcacia offers two units side-by-side. Each unit includes a private bathroom, bedroom, living room, and kitchen. Homes are fully accessible and designed for wheelchair access. Bedrooms and bathrooms come fitted with hoists.
Homes are ideally located close to local shops, restaurants, allied health services, and entertainment.
Eligibility for Young Onset Dementia support at Yooralla
Yooralla’s Young Onset Dementia Service can support you if you have Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) funding in your NDIS plan, and if you are a person under 65 years with young onset dementia.
