The service provides residents with one-to-one assistance with support needs that aren’t part of their rostered personal supports. This could be for an urgent need (such as help getting up after a fall) or non-urgent assistance.
What is Yooralla’s Overnight Concierge Support (OCS)?
Overnight Concierge Support (OCS) is the type of support provided by Yooralla in newly built Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) apartments. The OCS provider is selected by the SDA provider to offer OCS supports for the building.
OCS provides after-hours, on-call support to residents living in these apartments. This kind of support is also known as ‘onsite shared support’. The service provides residents with one-to-one assistance with support needs that aren’t part of their rostered personal supports.
This could be for an urgent need (such as help getting up after a fall) or non-urgent assistance (such as help preparing a snack, picking up a dropped item that is out of reach, or changing clothes).
OCS assists with unplanned or unexpected needs after hours and does not replace any scheduled or rostered personal support for residents (such as full morning or evening routines or complex bladder/bowel care routines).
How does Overnight Concierge Support (OCS) work?
Overnight Concierge Support (OCS) is provided by an on-call Disability Support Worker (DSW) based in an onsite apartment. The DSW is available to help residents between 6pm and 7am, 7 days a week.
Residents can use assistive technology within their apartments to request help. There is one DSW on site to support all the residents who live there.
Because there is only one DSW between several residents, there may be a wait of up to an hour for assistance with non-urgent requests. Any urgent requests (like a fall or accident) will be given a higher priority, and the DSW will respond as soon as they can.
It is a requirement that all residents living in the apartments contribute to the cost of the OCS service for the apartments. Residents can choose to purchase other supports (from Yooralla or any other preferred provider) in addition to the OCS service. Residents can choose to continue to access any regular supports they are currently using.
