Supported Independent Living (SIL)

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is an NDIS support to help you with everyday tasks in your home, so you can live independently while building your skills.

What is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is an NDIS support to help you with everyday tasks in your home, so you can live independently while building your skills.

We can provide SIL supports whether you want to live on your own, or with other people with disability and is best suited to people who have higher support needs.

SIL does not cover the costs of the physical home you live in or day-to-day living costs such as rent, board, food, utilities and transport.

SIL funding is also provided to people who live in Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA). However, SDA is funded separately to SIL.

Supported Independent Living (SIL) at Yooralla

Each home that we provide SIL supports in has a dedicated Service Manager. They will  be on-site to coach and mentor the direct support worker team in the house. Your Service Manager will also provide you with some direct supports to get to know you and understand your support needs.

Current residents and their support networks are encouraged to be involved in the hiring process of direct support staff in the home.

We operate under an evidence-based active support model at Yooralla, meaning we support you to build your independence and increase your capacity in everyday tasks. Our goal is to support you to be as active as possible in your home and community, so you can live the life you choose.
