Organisational update: Allied Health services changes

May 14, 2026

We've announced changes to our Allied Health services, starting 1 July 2026.

Following consultation regarding proposed changes to the Allied Health Division, Berry Street Yooralla has confirmed that changes to some Allied Health services will proceed from 1 July 2026.

The changes include:

  • Closure of Physiotherapy services
  • Closure of NDIS-funded Occupational Therapy services
  • Retention of a smaller Occupational Therapy service supporting the Bridges and ECIS COS programs
  • Transition of the On the Move Program from Physiotherapy to Occupational Therapy
  • Continuation of Speech Pathology and Specialist Behaviour Support/Psychology services under a revised structure

We understand this news may be upsetting and difficult for some clients, families, carers and staff, and we acknowledge the significant impact these changes may have.  These have been very difficult decisions, made only after extensive consideration and following sustained efforts over a long period of time to maintain these services in an increasingly challenging environment.

Berry Street Yooralla acknowledges the dedication, professionalism and care shown by Allied Health staff, who have continued to provide high quality support to clients and families throughout this period.

Our priority now is to ensure clients, families and carers feel supported and informed throughout the transition process.

Berry Street Yooralla is committed to working closely with impacted clients to support continuity of services and will not leave people without assistance. Individual transition planning and support will be provided, including assistance to connect with alternative providers where required.

Services will continue during the transition period while planning and handover processes occur.

We also recognise the impact these changes will have on staff and are committed to supporting employees throughout the transition process.
