Pursuing interests and passions as part a ‘Good Life’

We’ve heard from our clients that they want to pursue interests and opportunities that are important to them, and be supported to grow, learn, and develop these interests over their lives.

Pursuing your own individual interests and passions is a key part of living a ‘Good Life’, whether that’s through hobbies, education, skill development and more.

We’ve heard from our clients that they want to pursue interests and opportunities that are important to them, and be supported to grow, learn, and develop these interests over their lives.

Anthony, a client at Leongatha Community Hub, has been learning more skills at TAFE in Gippsland.

“I do programs like…literacy, writing and maths and all that,” he said.

These opportunities are supporting Anthony to “get my writing a bit neater and my spelling a bit better. And my reading as well,” he said.

Ray is also man of many interests and has been pursuing his interest in singing, performing across the community.

“I am actually in a choir at the moment, Shep Sings…I’m in the bass part of the choir. You’ve got the bass part of the choir, then you have the alto,” he said.

When he’s not singing or playing the keyboard, Ray also enjoys gardening at his home.

“We’ve got beautiful herbs growing in our gardens,” Ray said.

“[I like] planting things, veggies, plants, I know we get our hands dirty but that’s part of the job of doing gardening. It’s something I’ve been doing for ages,” he said.

With the support of our community of donors, we want to create and extend programs that will enable our clients to pursue their individual interests and opportunities, just like Anthony and Ray.
