World Occupational Therapy Day 2023

This year World Occupational Therapy Day on 27 October celebrates the theme ‘Unity through Community’, promoting the role of OTs in working together and supporting people to engage with and participate in their community.

On 27 October we're celebrating World Occupational Therapy Day by showcasing some of the amazing work of our Occupational Therapists (OT), who support people with disability of all ages and needs.

This year World OT Day celebrates the theme ‘Unity through Community’. The theme promotes the role of OTs in working together and supporting people to engage with and participate in their community – in whichever way is meaningful to them.

World Occupational Therapy Day is an opportunity to demonstrate the many ways OTs can support people at all stages of life.

Image of a woman in a wheelchair with text next to it "Karen is getting out and about.." and an image of a young boy, smiling, with text next to it "...and Toby* is thriving at school with Occupational Therapy!" *name changed for privacy.

Karen is busy making plans to get out-and-about in the community after transitioning to a powered wheelchair with the support of OT.

Six-and-a-half-year-old Toby* has achieved his goals of successfully transitioning to kinder and then school, as well as increasing independence in self-care skills such as toileting and dressing thanks to support from his family and an OT.
