A day to remember: Clients create their dream prom at St Albans Community Hub

Sept 23, 2025

The Prom Day wasn’t just a party - it was a celebration of growth, creativity, and community. It was about trying new things, building confidence, and sharing joy with friends.

Inspired by the magic of prom scenes in classic movies, clients of the St Albans Community Hub’s Events Program spent 18 months carefully planning to bring their vision for their very own Prom Day to life!

A Prom to remember

The hub was completely transformed into an elegant prom venue for the very special occasion. Handmade centrepieces showcasing the artistic abilities of the clients sparkled on tables, balloons and streamers lined the walls, and the space radiated a sense of elegance and excitement.

For Ann, it was those little details that made the day so special. “I enjoyed dressing up, the decorations, and dancing,” she said.

Jacinda had been looking forward to the day for months, even buying herself a special dress for the occasion. “I enjoyed the food, and I spent the day smiling and laughing,” she said.

James marked a milestone of his own, proudly wearing a suit for the first time at the hub. “I enjoyed dancing with friends,” he said, soaking up the moment in style.

For Rachel, the evening was something she’ll carry with her forever. “I felt like a Queen on the day, and I will cherish this memory for the rest of my life,” she reflected.

And when it came to the highlight of the prom? For Cassie, the answer was simple: “I enjoyed the dancing.”

Staff supported the vision by preparing a wide variety of food, but it was clear that the clients were at the heart of everything. They had poured themselves into the planning, invested in special outfits, and stepped outside their comfort zones to create something truly magical.

The Prom Day wasn’t just a party - it was a celebration of growth, creativity, and community. It was about trying new things, building confidence, and sharing joy with friends.

As the Prom Day came to a close, the smiles, laughter, and memories lingered, evidence of an event that was far more than just a dance.

For the clients of the St Albans Community Hub, the Prom Day was everything they dreamed it would be, and more.
