A heartwarming family surprise at Yooralla’s Wangaratta Community Hub
June 11, 2025
Rebecca’s weekly visits to her dad were already meaningful but this week, a surprise at Yooralla’s Wangaratta Community Hub made it unforgettable.

Rebecca's Story
For the past six months, Rebecca has looked forward to a special weekly tradition – being picked up from Yooralla’s Wangaratta Community Hub by her mum, Julie, to visit her dad at the nearby nursing home.
These visits are a cherished part of Rebecca’s week, and she always returns beaming after spending time with her dad.
But a recent Monday afternoon brought a beautiful twist.
Instead of the usual routine, Julie had a surprise in store – she brought Rebecca’s dad to the Hub to visit her.
Seeing both her mum and dad walk through the doors of her space was an emotional and joyful moment for Rebecca. She was so overwhelmed with happiness, she cried.
“It was absolutely beautiful to witness,” said Bridie Graham, Acting Service Leader.
“Bec’s joy just lit up the room!” Bridie said.
The Hub team made sure to capture the special moment with a family photo. Inspired by the visit, Rebecca spent the rest of the afternoon decorating a photo frame for the picture, planning to give it to her dad at their next visit. She knows he’ll proudly display it in his room.
Moments like these are what make Yooralla’s Community Hubs such a special place – where relationships are nurtured, families are supported, and joy is shared.
