Big Christmas in July at VASS

Yooralla’s Ventilator Accommodation Support Service (VASS) in Thornbury celebrated a big, fun-filled Christmas in July.

Kristy McMurray, Manager of VASS, said it was “a day to remember”.

“The place was beautifully decorated, we had a big Christmas tree and Christmas carols playing non-stop throughout the day. We played lots of fun games; there was a lot of laugher,” she said.

The team and residents were joined by the resident’s family members for the big celebration.

Kristy said it was a real team effort in making a special Christmas dinner.

“Some people peeled vegetables, others were in charge of the roasts and others made special desserts,” she said.

Reece Kopetko, Nurse Educator at VASS, made her signature bread and butter pudding, which was “a favourite”, said Kristy.

Well done and thanks to everyone who joined in and organised a fun event!

Yooralla’s VASS is a unique service that was purpose built for people who are dependent on mechanical ventilators and require high level 24-hour support. It is the only one of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and offers both residential and respite accommodation.
