Welcome to this month’s edition of News@Yooralla.

Can you believe it’s been ten years since the rollout of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)?

On 1 July 2023, we celebrated 10 years of our clients achieving their goals under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and the beginning of the NDIS rollout. We are proud to have worked alongside our clients to navigate the NDIS since its inception, supporting them to achieve their NDIS goals and live the life they choose.

With our clients making progress and achieving their NDIS goals every day, it’s impossible for us to share all of their stories – but you can read just a snippet of some of their incredible achievements over the last 10 years on our website.

Employment is a common goal for many NDIS participants, and we are so excited to partner with the Inclusion Foundation to support two participants in part-time permanent roles as part of the Impact21 program. Impact 21 provides people with Down syndrome and intellectual disability opportunities to build their independence and to explore their interests and skills in the workplace.

We’re looking forward to having the Impact21 participants join Yooralla, learning from them and working with them towards their employment goals. We will be sharing more about our new employees with you when they start this month.

July also marks Disability Pride month, an annual event that highlights visibility and mainstream awareness of the pride felt by people with disabilities about their identities. It is also a celebration of their contributions in society.

We are excited to support Belong Network with their very special Disability Pride celebration on Thursday 27 July at Kensington Town Hall, where the disability community will be united to celebrate with food, music, art, competitions and much more! Don’t miss out on this great event and pick up your tickets online.
