The annual Victoria's Protecting Children Awards honour people and teams who show excellence in working with children, young people and families.

In 2026 we had a number of dedicated and passionate colleagues nominated for an award. This speaks volumes to their commitment, hard work and positive impact - congratulations to everyone who was nominated!

Our three finalists

BSY had three finalists for awards this year, Holly Ames Senior Manager Home-based Care, Dawn Wynn a kinship carer and Associate Professor Annette Jackson.

Firstly, congratulations to Holly Ames, who was a finalist in the Creating Positive Impact category. This is the only category in which nominations come from young people whose lives have been changed – what a special nomination indeed. Thank you to Holly for all of your work over many years.

Our worthy winners!

Congratulations to Dawn Wynn, a kinship carer who we support, who won the Kinship Carer of the Year award.

Dawn has been on a caring journey with her grandson, who has significant needs, over many years and this is such a well-deserved result. It was a special night that Dawn will never forget. Dawn has been well supported by the Berry Street Yooralla home-based care team and we can’t underestimate the importance of that support for Dawn in helping her keep her grandson safely with her.

Huge congratulations also go to Associate Professor Annette Jackson, who was nominated for and won the Robin Clark Leadership Award, recognising significant contribution to the sector in leadership roles. Annette has been working for decades in the sector, improving practice, translating evidence, contributing significantly to the sector's understanding of trauma, childhood development and the overlap between disability and trauma. Annette leaves such a positive legacy right across the sector as well as within our own organisation. We are lucky to know Annette as not only an incredibly skilled, but also extremely generous and kind leader for our staff with an amazing commitment to the work that we do. It’s really fantastic see this impact recognised in a sector wide award last night. Well done, Annette!

Congratulations to our nominees, finalists and winners. Such well-deserved recognition for the hard, challenging and incredibly important work that you do.
