Celebrating International Women's Day - progress and challenges

International Women's Day is dedicated to celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women worldwide.

International Women's Day, observed annually on 8 March, is a day dedicated to celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women worldwide.

This year’s theme of ‘Inspire Inclusion’ emphasises the importance of promoting an inclusive environment where women feel valued, respected, and empowered. One of the many ways this can be achieved is to work towards gender equality in the workplace, particularly regarding pay.

Wage disparity remains a pressing issue across Australia, with statistics revealing that 19% of organisations have a wage disparity of more than 5%. At Yooralla, a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and belonging is paramount – and this is reflected in our results in the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) scorecard.

This scorecard helps organisations understand where they stand and identify any gender-related gaps that need attention. It's a crucial tool in promoting gender equality within workplaces.

Pay equality at Yooralla has continued to improve year-on-year, and we are pleased to share that our median gender pay gap comes in at 1.3%, placing us in a ‘neutral position’. This means our pay does not significantly favour either men or women.

We acknowledge the importance of fair and equitable pay and are dedicated to swiftly addressing any anomalies in remuneration. You can view Yooralla’s full scorecard on the WGEA website
