Disability Health at Yooralla
Who are our Disability Health team?
Yooralla's Disability Health team is comprised of registered nurses who promote and support the health and wellbeing of our clients.
The Disability Health team provides support with:
- connecting clients to health services
- preparing client support plans and assessments, and
- providing client-specific training for disability-related health supports.
Cervical cancer screening
Yooralla can assist clients to obtain referrals from their GP and complete at-home tests for cervical cancer screening. We have a range of resources from the Cancer Council and Yooralla to support you with your cervical cancer screening.
Palliative care information
Yooralla is an active member of the Statewide Disability Palliative Care Advisory Group. We are closely involved with National Disability Services (NDS) to drive palliative care initiatives for people with a disability. HPV vaccination information
Cancer Council Victoria has developed new resources to improve the HPV vaccination experience for young people with disability and their parents/carers, including a fact sheet, animation and social story.
Infectious diseases
Our Disability Health team provides support to clients and their teams on the prevention, management of infectious diseases. We can assist clients to connect to relevant services that provide support for medical procedures, vaccinations under sedation, or infectious diseases such as COVID-19.
