Terry Symonds commences work as Yooralla’s CEO

Terry commenced his professional career in the not-for-profit disability sector in Brisbane and now returns to the disability sector with Yooralla.

Terry Symonds commenced in the role of Yooralla’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on 1st March 2021.

In his most recent role as Deputy Secretary of the Health and Wellbeing Division of the Department of Health and Human Services in Victoria, Terry had oversight of delivery of health care through hospitals and community agencies, as well as mental health and aged care. He has also played a key role in the negotiation of national agreements between the Commonwealth and State, and in the health and aged care response to COVID-19.

Previously, Terry was the Deputy Secretary for Strategy, working closely with the community sector for the reform of out of home care. He has also held senior roles at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and in Queensland Health.

Terry commenced his professional career in the not-for-profit disability sector in Brisbane and now returns to the disability sector with Yooralla.

Yooralla’s former CEO, Dr Sherene Devanesen, has retired after seven years of exemplary service.
