Why do you need a Service Agreement for your NDIS supports?

Service Agreements in the NDIS

Once you have received your NDIS plan – but before you can start receiving your funded supports – you need to have Service Agreements with the provider/s you choose to deliver your supports.

A Service Agreement is a contract between you and the service provider, which will outline how they will deliver the supports in your NDIS plan.

It is important, as it set out the terms and conditions of your services and the expectations between you and your provider. This ensures that you both have an agreed understanding of what supports will be delivered and how they will be delivered.

The Service Agreement should also detail how to resolve any problems that may arise if either party has issues with any aspect of the service that is being delivered.

Service Agreements may look different for different providers, however there may be common information you should expect to see in a Service Agreement. These might include:

  • schedule of supports – an explanation of what supports will be delivered to you and for what amount of time.
  • responsibilities of you and your provider
  • information about paying your provider
  • how to change or cancel your service booking, and
  • contact details of your provider.

Once agreed to by both parties, the service provider will start delivering your funded supports.

It is recommended that you keep a copy of all your service agreements.
