Neon disco fever at Drouin Hub!

Clients from our Drouin Community Hub recently had the idea of organising an event to get together with their friends from our Leongatha Community Hub and have some fun!

“This disco was solely the clients’ idea and they did an amazing job of organising the event from start to finish!” said Drouin Support Worker, Sally.

They decided on a date and created a flyer to invite clients from Leongatha Hub. Then it was menu preparation and Hub decoration time!

Clients got busy shopping and making some food – sushi, pinwheels and egg sandwiches were the stand outs.

Next, the clients worked together to deck the Hub out in party decorations and disco lights and created playlists to dance all night long to.

Fran, a client at the Hub said “when I started playing the music, I got into the groove and I loved being the DJ.”

Many other clients agreed dancing and having fun with their friends was the best part of the night.

“It was great. I enjoyed the disco and dancing with Leongatha guys. I enjoyed making sushi too,” said client Greg. Jason agreed, adding “I enjoyed making pinwheels, dancing and having a laugh with my friends.”

“I liked my neon jacket, dancing and the pinwheels,” said Michael.

“I thought it was really good because everybody looked really happy and was having lots of fun and it was something different that we have not done before at the Hub. Lots of fun making the food. My favourite was the dips and corn chips,” said Bridget.

Clients even designed and made their own masquerade masks! “Masks were funny,” said Andrew.

“I liked it, I liked everything! I liked dancing with my friends,” said Helen.

A fantastic night was had by everyone from both Drouin and Leongatha Hub!
