About the night

Audience members were transported to a whole new world, as the Performing Arts group from Macey Heights Community Hub presented their production of Aladdin!

It was a colourful display of singing and dancing from the immensely talented cast, who brought the land of Agrabah to life through the Aladdin classics like ‘Friend Like Me’, ‘A Whole New World’ and ‘One Jump Ahead’.

In a modern twist, the performance also told the classic tale of Jasmine and Aladdin through contemporary pop hits, including ‘Unholy’ by Sam Smith and the karaoke-favourite, Tina Arena’s ‘Chains’.

It was a stellar performance, with a magic flying carpet, cheeky Abu, meddlesome Iago and who can forget protective Rajah – all supporting the captivating Nyamag as Jasmine, and the dashing Chris P as Aladdin.

There were non-stop smiles, singing and dancing from a captivated audience, who were smiling ear-to-ear for the entirety of the evening.

Don’t just take it from us though, here is what some of the audience had to say about the performance…

“It was a night filled with emotion, dance, fun and drama! You couldn’t ask for better lead actors or ensemble cast – I can’t wait for next year’s production!” - Kelly

“The Macey crew of clients and staff have again excelled with this year’s production of Aladdin – a truly awesome production and very well done to the clients who were so professional and had a great time throughout the entire show. Definitely great to see their characters and confidence soar as they totally enjoyed themselves – it was so infectious and so much fun, and laughter shared among all.” – Rachel

“I think the main stars really gave the show everything they had! I liked the drum element on stage, it brought more live music feel to it. Make up and costumes were wonderful. Directing and production were thoughtful and well executed. The whole night was very well organised. I left energised and with a full heart.” – Satu

“Congrats to all involved in the Aladdin production. It was such a fun night, and it was great to see so all the happy smiling faces of our wonderful cast. The performance was very engaging and got the crowd involved. We have some very talented clients and staff that work well together to pull off a production like this.
