Our COVID-19 response
The critical role of vaccine boosters
As community cases have increased over the last 2-3 weeks, boosters have again demonstrated that vaccinations are one of our best defences against COVID-19.
A recent outbreak at one of our services has so far been contained in large part thanks to residents having received their boosters (third dose) in the previous fortnight.
This is another timely reminder that whilst the health impacts of the Omicron strain appear to be milder than previous strains for the majority of people, given the vulnerability of our customers, we are strongly encouraging all our staff, customers and family members to get their booster as soon as they become eligible.
We’re hoping to have dedicated Yooralla locations available in the coming weeks, for all our customers and staff to receive their booster doses to make this process as easy as possible.
Service resumptions
Our response is heavily influenced by the requirements for testing and isolation on customers and staff. We’ve welcomed the recent changes to the Government’s rules in this regard which allow people to return to work much quicker than under the previous approach – in particular the removal of the need to wait for a PCR test to confirm Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) results which had extended staff furlough requirements due to the lengthy testing delays.
We’ve recently ordered significant bulk quantities of RATs to enable this approach.
We appreciate your patience and support as we adjust our approach to keep services running as close to normal as possible, without compromising the quality of care we provide.
